Chasing Light
Welcome. This is where I share my work and also the work of others, those that inspire me, the weird, the great, the unusual.
It is a goddamn marvel this life. Take a look.
Helmut Newton | Cindy Crawford’s Legs
The woman in the image can be mysterious and to me I think it’s important that she is mysterious.
Cairo | The Bakery
I was lost in a neighborhood in the eastern part of Cairo. I had entered this warren of tiny dirt floored alleys and was wandering and unable to find my way out. I started to walk down an dead end when I saw this boy bringing out freshly baked bread.

Budapest | District X
“Draw, Antonio, draw, Antonio, draw and do not waste time.”
One of the few things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time.
Budapest | Semmelweis Egyetem
Roaming the streets in Budapest at twilight, I heard the sounds of music coming from one of the stately massive relic buildings through an open window.
Ann Ray | Willem Dafoe
In the middle of the night, a group of baboons came down and went through our packs and all that stuff.
Paris | Bugs Bunny, Cafe
We had finished shooting in my AirBnb and I took her out for a drink and some pastries.
Annie Dillard | The Death of Archimedes
During the Roman assault on Syracuse, Archimedes, oblivious to the tumult around him
Saint Petersburg | Vi, Chair VI
Saint Petersburg | Vi, Chair V
Belgrade | Tijana, Buckethead
I was shooting Tijana in Belgrade, a beautiful model, but things weren’t clicking, there was no rhythm happening.
Ellen Von Unwerth | Motion & Blur
There is a technique that Ellen Von Unwerth continually revisits that I’ve never seen any other pro shooter use to such great effect.
Los Angeles | Cheryl I
When shooting a model in her apartment in downtown LA and she says she has pleather pants and a red corset and asks if she should try those on, you should say yes, please.
André Kertész | Chair with French Horn, 1927
Everything is a subject. Every subject has a rhythm. To feel it is the raison d’être. The photograph is a fixed moment of such a raison d’être, which lives on in itself.
Tondo, Manila | Why I Shoot in Slums
When I travel, I am drawn to the poor areas, those people on the fringe, the disenfranchised. And beautiful women. A weird contrast, I know, but there has never been an agenda. I just go where my feet lead me and to what attracts me.
I do shoot the underprivileged a lot and I find myself questioning this periodically.
Saint Petersburg | Vi, Standing, Camisole IV
Ellen von Unwerth | Her Best Shot
I took this maybe three years ago, on a fashion shoot for Italian Vogue.
Nolita | Lovely Day
Moscow | Galina I
Galina was a Playboy model in Russia that I coordinated with and booked through a model directory.
As the owner of a photo studio rental in Saint Petersburg told me, Russia is filled with beautiful women who want their photo taken.
Indeed.
